Draw! Drawing Indoors this fall at your local art gallery.
After a successful spring session of Drawing Outdoors, I welcome artists to join me for drawing indoors this fall. This art course is for both beginning artists and more experienced artists.
It’s the end of September and we’ll be spending more time indoors. What will you be doing? I plan to lead a drawing class at the WKP Kennedy Gallery in the Capitol Centre, in the heart of North Bay, Ontario. So join me and our small group of drawers on Thursday afternoons from one to three. We will meet for four Thursday sessions of drawing inside the art gallery beginning on October 12th, 2023.
Success is a worn down pencil.

As has been noted before, this series of drawing sessions is for all participants including beginners and those more experienced in art making. Firstly, you will have the time, instruction, and feedback to make a variety of drawings big and small. Secondly, we will do short sketching exercises and longer drawings using a variety of art materials. Lastly, I will lead the group in drawing from life, memory and the imagination. The focus of these drawing sessions will be on practising essential drawing skills including expressive mark-making. Above all this will be a fun learning experience. All are welcome to join.
What to Bring to the first drawing class:
- Paper, drawing pad and/or sketchbook
- Painter’s tape (can be very helpful in creating a clean border and holding the paper in place).
- Pencils, pens, markers, pencil crayons, black pen (Uniball, Flare, Micro pens…), oil pastels, chalk pastels, and/or charcoal. These are all optional. Bring what you have or what you would like to use.
- An eraser, especially a kneaded eraser – optional and useful.
- Hand cleaner, wipes (optional)
- The gallery will provide seating, tables and easels.
